The Uytengsu Aquatics Center's origins trace back to its initial construction in 1928, when it was known as the USC Swimming Stadium. Its early prominence was established quickly, as it was selected to host the swimming, diving, and water polo competitions for the 1932 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles. Decades later, the facility underwent a significant renovation and was renamed the McDonald's Swim Stadium in 1983, just in time to serve as a primary venue for the 1984 Summer Olympics, hosting swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming events.
